Caretaker
The first caretaker was Tom Strickland who was ably helped by his wife. He resigned in November 1940.
J Simpson and R Hayes members of the Committee offered to share the work.
R Hayes resigned in December 1941 and J Simpson carried on alone.
The Honorarium is £26 a large proportion being paid during the winter months when the work is heavier.
Conditions of Work
The duties of the caretaker include:
Keeping all parts of the building clean.
Making fires when necessary.
Preparing rooms for meetings but the hirers will arrange the tables and chairs except in special circumstances.
The caretaker shall be responsible for keeping the towels washed.
He must report any misconduct and irregularity and enforce all the rules.
